The spirit of Zhang Rung comes to the Qin-Huai River of Southern Sung.  He is shocked at how the people on the painted boat try to live a peaceful life. He suddenly realizes that his good friend meant to ask him to stay and live in the south of Yangtzi River together.  Hung-Ling, a young girl selling water chestnuts, has not heard from her fiance who went to the north to fight.  Zhang Rung is reminded of his daughter, Tung-Yun, who was as lonely as the young girl.  (right: Tang Wen-Hwa as Zhang Rung; center, in red: Zhu Sheng-Li as Li San-Niang; left, in green: Chen Mei-Lan as Hung-Yun
