“The Artistic Express” is an annual extracurricular learning activity held by the Guoguang Opera Company which attracts many grade schools in Taipei City and New Taipei City, and thousands of grade school students have already come to the company’s site to take part in this activity. These grade school students learn to appreciate Chinese Opera by viewing performances which emphasize sigong wufa (the four basic skills and five ways) with thorough but lively explanations in a pleasant atmonsphere. The operas specially chosen for these activities are often adaptations of familiar stories or legends, such as Red Boy, a story adapted from the famous Journey to the West, A Secret Scheme of the Three Kingdoms, and The Adventures of Wu Dalang. The school children are able enjoy the performances and at the same time naturally imbibe the artistic and cultural fare. In 2011, this activity was extended to the areas of Jiayi and Tainan. |
